I'm not a big television guy, in fact, there's a lot about television that I hate. Don't get me started...
There was, however, a television program that I really enjoyed several years ago called Everwood. One of the leading characters was a New York City doctor that moved to the fictional Everwood, CO to rebuild his life and reconnect with his son. Each episode dealt with him coming to terms with his past and future life while navigating some of the potholes of small town living. Something about that show caught my imagination and I realize that part of why I'm striking out on my own is that I want to be like that character; taking what I learned in the 'big city' and sharing it with my small town friends. Living the way that I want to live -- 10 acres and a hundred-year-old farm home out in the country -- and working the way I want to work, wearing a barn coat and jeans, driving a 20 year old pickup truck, all while staying on the cutting edge of technology and societal evolution...
What makes this all possible? Digital convergence, or the internet, for you people from Rio Linda as Rush would say. 'Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life' -- it's not about the money, it's about the kind of life you want to have. Now, can I accomplish both? Stay tuned!

...to put my business online using only tools that are freely available from Google. The purpose of the exercise is to 'eat my own dog food' so to speak and thereby demonstrate that it's possible for any entrepreneur, SMB, volunteer group, etc. to have a robust web presence and take advantage of these tools for their own purposes. Sign up for updates in the Feedblitz box in the right hand column and track my progress...
